 2023 Preview 


       Pleasant Home finished the 2022 season with a disappointing 2-8 record. Last year Pleasant Home finished eighth in Class 1A region two with a 1-7 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       Pleasant Home was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Eagles want to be competitive. They only averaged 17.8 points a game.

       Pleasant Home struggled on the defensive side of the football last year. The defense found little success in stopping opposing offenses as they gave up an average of 38.2 points a game.

       The Eagles would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 3-17 record. Since 2010, Pleasant Home has gone a combined 38-95. Their 28.6% winning percentage ranks 50th in Class 1A over the past thirteen seasons.

       Over the past 23 seasons, Pleasant Home has not won much with a record of 72-161. Their 31.0% winning percentage ranks 54th in Class 1A and 349th in the AHSAA. The Eagles have struggled on the football field with only four winning seasons during this time.




       The Eagles are led by head coach Cody Sellers who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 2-8 record in his first season at Pleasant Home. The Eagles saw improvement from a 1-9 record the season before coach Sellers arrived. The Eagles have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Sellers.

       The Eagles enter the 2023 season in the middle of a 7 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season.

       This season, the Eagles will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region two.

       The Eagles open the 2023 season on the road against non-region opponent A.L. Johnson on Friday, August 25 at A.L. Johnson Stadium. Last year the A.L. Johnson Eagles finished with an overall record of 0-10 and in seventh place in Class 1A region three. The Eagles closed out the regular season with a loss to Verbena by a score of 60-0.

       Pleasant Home and A.L. Johnson have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Eagles have a 2-0-0 record against the Eagles. They last met in 2022 with Pleasant Home winning by a score of 41-6.
