2023 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Prattville completed the 2022 season with a 6-4 record. Last year Prattville just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 7A region two with a 4-4 region record. Since 2010, Prattville has gone a combined 90-52. Their 63.4% winning percentage ranks 9th in Class 7A over the past thirteen seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Prattville has finished a combined 226-73. Their 76.0% winning percentage ranks 3rd in Class 7A and 9th in the AHSAA. The Lions have been successful on the football field with twenty-two winning seasons during this time. The Lions are led by head coach Jason Wallace who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 13-8 over the past two seasons at Prattville. Under his direction the Lions have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Wallace. Over the course of his career, Coach Wallace's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of five times and won one region championship. The Lions could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region two this season with a few breaks and a little improvement. Unfortunately, Prattville finds themselves in a very competitive region with other playoff quality teams. They may need to pull off an upset or two to have any chance at the postseason. Prattville came up short of the playoffs last year but are optimistic of a return to the post season this year. The Lions open the 2023 season on the road against non-region opponent Foley on Friday, August 25 at Ivan Jones Stadium. Last year the Foley Lions finished with an overall record of 7-4 and in first place in Class 7A region one. The Lions lost in the first round of the Class 7A playoffs to Dothan High by a score of 42-28. Prattville and Foley have met a total of 9 times on the football field. The Lions have a 7-2-0 record against the Lions. They last met in 2022 with Prattville winning by a score of 34-20. Prattville lost 7A All-State athlete Kameran Shanks to graduation. He was named to the first team last season. The Lions return 7A All-State Senior defensive back Issaiah Parrish. He was named to the second team last season. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
