Scottsboro completed the 2022 season with a 7-5 record. With their 5-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 5A region seven, the Wildcats earned a spot in the playoffs in 2022. Scottsboro reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Leeds by a score of 35-10. It marked the first time since the 2019 season that the Wildcats qualified for the playoffs. Since 2010, Scottsboro has gone a combined 63-77. Their 45.0% winning percentage ranks 27th in Class 5A over the past thirteen seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Scottsboro has managed to compile a record of 121-148. Their 45.0% winning percentage ranks 31st in Class 5A and 236th in the AHSAA. The Wildcats are led by head coach Cris Bell who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 10-12 over the past two seasons at Scottsboro. That ranks 2nd in Class 5A and 2nd in the AHSAA. The Wildcats have a good shot at one of the last two playoff slots in region seven this season. The Wildcats open the 2023 season on the road against non-region opponent Fort Payne on Friday, August 25 at Wildcat Stadium. Last year the Fort Payne Wildcats finished with an overall record of 8-3 and in second place in Class 6A region eight. The Wildcats lost in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs to Decatur by a score of 31-8. Scottsboro and Fort Payne have met a total of 89 times on the football field.
