Thorsby completed the 2022 season with a 7-4 record. With their 4-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 2A region four, the Rebels earned a spot in the playoffs in 2022. Thorsby's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Reeltown by a score of 49-6. Since 2010, Thorsby has gone a combined 68-71. Their 48.9% winning percentage ranks 28th in Class 2A over the past thirteen seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Thorsby has managed to compile a record of 109-152. Their 42.0% winning percentage ranks 40th in Class 2A and 262nd in the AHSAA. The Rebels are led by head coach Daryl Davis who is entering his eleventh season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 52-54 over the past ten seasons at Thorsby. Under his direction the Rebels have qualified for the playoffs a total of six times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Davis. The Rebels have a good shot at one of the last two playoff slots in region four this season. They have qualified for the playoffs every year since 2016 and are hopeful to continue that streak in 2023. Junior Grayson McManus will be back this season at running back after rushing for 631 yards and 9 TDs in 2022. The defense will be led by Malachi Allgood this season after collecting 158 total tackles last season. The Rebels open the 2023 season on the road against non-region opponent Jemison on Thursday, August 24 at Panther Stadium. Last year the Jemison Panthers finished with an overall record of 2-8 and in sixth place in Class 5A region three. The Panthers closed out the regular season with a loss to Elmore County by a score of 60-12. Thorsby and Jemison have met a total of 21 times on the football field. The Rebels have a 4-17-0 record against the Panthers. They last met in 2022 with Thorsby winning by a score of 44-33. The Rebels return 2A All-State Junior linebacker Malachi Algood.
