 2024 Preview

The Bayshore Christian Eagles will field a football team for the first time this fall. They will be led by head football coach Phil Lazenby as they prepare for their initial season on the gridiron.

Coaching Change:
     New Program

2024 Head Coach:
Phil Lazenby  returns to the sidelines in 2024 after starting the football program at Bayshore Christian in Fairhope. Lazenby is a veteran coach with 200 victories under his belt in 26 seasons. His teams have appeared in the playoffs in 21 of those seasons.

Coach Lazenby has previously led programs at Guntersville, Southside Gadsden, Benjamin Russell and Bayside Academy. His 200 wins rank 17th among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach Lazenby's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of twenty-one times and won seven region championships.

Season Outlook:

The Bayshore Christian Eagles will play in Class 2A region one during the 2024 season. The Eagles will have a difficult time competing in Class 2A with a young team in their initial season.

Baldwin County's newest high school will take to the field in August under the direction of Coach Lazenby. He will be assisted by David Stapleton.

Bayshore will be young as expected for a first year program in 2024. The offense will be led by QB Nate Cruz and RB Brooks Jones. Coach Lazenby has about 27-29 players out this fall so numbers will be important for the young football program.

The Eagles could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region one this season with a few breaks and a little improvement. Bayshore Christian has never qualified for one of the coveted playoffs spots in school history but hope to turn a few more wins into a post season appearance this season.

Season Opener:
The Eagles open the 2024 season on the road against non-region opponent McIntosh on Friday, August 30 at H.H. Wiggins Field. Last year the McIntosh Demons finished with an overall record of 2-7 and in fifth place in Class 1A region one.

This will be the second meeting between Bayshore Christian and McIntosh on the football field. The Eagles have a 1-0-0 record against the Demons. They last met in with
