 2024 Preview

Dothan High completed the 2023 season with a 8-3 record. With their 6-2 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 7A region two, the Wolves earned a spot in the playoffs in 2023. Dothan High's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Mary Montgomery by a score of 21-13.

No team at Dothan High ever won more games in a season than the eight victories last year. The 431 points scored by the Wolves last year were a team record in a single season.

Dothan High is a relatively new football program having fielded a team only five seasons. They have managed a record of 30-23 over the past five years.

Graduated All-State Players:
Dothan High lost 7A All-State  defensive back KeAviyon Durry to graduation. He was named to the honorable mention team last season.

Head Coach:
The Wolves are led by head coach Jed Kennedy who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 16-7 over the past two seasons at Dothan High. Under his direction the Wolves have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Kennedy. The win total includes 16 wins in Alabama and 115 victories from outside the state.

Season Outlook:

The Dothan High Wolves will play in Class 7A region two during the 2024 season.

Back-to-back eight win seasons and a couple of playoff spots are great seasons in Dothan but Coach Kennedy has his sights set higher with each passing season. The Wolves will play three out-of-state opponents but none of them will be a real threat.

The Wolves will be without their leading rusher Tamarion Peterson who graduated in the spring. But they return seven starters from last year to the offense and another six on defense.

Coach Kennedy said this about this year's team at Dothan. ''We have won 16 games the last two seasons and return a great core of players for the 2024 season. We play in one of the toughest regions in the country and look forward to challenges that presents.''

The Wolves should be in contention for a playoff spot in region two this season. Hosting a first round playoff game on their home turf would be an advantage.

Players to Watch in 2024:
Sam Broadaway will return at QB in 2024 after completing 47-of-100 passes for 711 yards and 6 TDs last season as a sophomore.

Sophomore sensation AJ Alexander returns at RB after rushing for 1,044 yards and 11 TDs last season.

Returning Starters:
OFFENSE: Louis Snell (G); Aden Jackson (T); Miquane Williams (T); Sam Broadaway (QB); Tanner Johnson (FB); AJ Alexander (RB); Jaden Barnes (WR)
DEFENSE: Zay Ibarra (NT); Ezekiel Scott (DE); Zach Walker (OLB); Gabe Smith (OLB); Asim White (S); TK Knight (C)
NEWCOMERS: A'King Hall (C) 2027; Kerry Gatlin Jr. (S) 2027; Aaron Scott (LB) 2026; JaDavious Lemene (LB) 2027; Pate Pritchett (OL) 2026

Season Opener:
The Wolves open the 2024 season at home against non-region opponent Chiles FL on Friday, August 23 at Rip Hewes Stadium.

This will be the second meeting between Dothan High and Chiles FL on the football field. The Wolves have a 1-0-0 record against Chiles FL. They last met in with
