 2024 Preview 


       Northside Methodist Academy finished the 2023 season with a disappointing 2-8 record. Last year Northside Methodist Academy finished ninth in Class 3A region two with a 1-7 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       The Knights lost as many games as in any season since 2017. The Knights have never won a playoff game in the school's history. They would like to break through and pick up that first post season victory in 2024.

       Northside Methodist Academy was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Knights want to be competitive. They only averaged 17.7 points a game.

      

       Northside Methodist Academy is a relatively new football program having fielded a team only ten seasons. They have managed a record of 36-69 over the past ten years.

       Over the past 10 seasons, Northside Methodist Academy has not won much with a record of 36-69. Their 34.0% winning percentage ranks 50th in Class 3A and 330th in the AHSAA. The Knights have struggled on the football field with only one winning season during this time.

Head Coach:
       The Knights are led by head coach Stefan Gainey who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 2-8 record in his first season at Northside Methodist Academy. The Knights have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Gainey.

Season Outlook:

       The Northside Methodist Academy Knights will play in Class 3A region two during the 2024 season.

      

       The Knights have not fared well on the football field since joining the AHSAA in 2020 as an independent. They remain in region 2 but are joined by two teams from 4A who dropped down with realignment. Northside has not qualified for the playoffs since making the move from the AISA.

       Northside will be young with not a lot of experienced players returning this fall. Second year coach Stefan Gainey will be looking for some of the younger players to step up early in the season to provide help to the veterans on both sides of the football.

       Coach Gainey had this to say about his Knights in 2024. ''We have a young team in a tough new region, but this team seems to have a good work ethic so far.''

    The Knights will need to win a few more games this fall if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region two this season. After just 2 wins last year, Northside Methodist Academy will be hoping to become more competitive in the region.

Season Opener:
       The Knights open the 2024 season on the road against non-region opponent Pataula Charter GA on Friday, August 23.

       This will be the second meeting between Northside Methodist Academy and Pataula Charter GA on the football field. The Knights have a 0-1-0 record against Pataula Charter GA. They last met in with
