 2024 Preview 


       Pisgah completed the 2023 season with a 12-2 record. With their 6-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 2A region seven, the Eagles earned a spot in the playoffs in 2023. Pisgah made a nice playoff run in 2023, reaching the semi-finals before falling to a very good Fyffe team by the score of 32-14.

       The Eagles won as many games as in any season since 2002. The 652 points scored by the Eagles last year were a team record in a single season.

       The high-scoring Pisgah offense ranked 6th in the AHSAA. They averaged 46.6 points a game.

       Over the past two seasons the Eagles have Finished 23-5 and will be looking to continue that winning tradition. Since 2010, Pisgah has gone a combined 75-79. Their 48.7% winning percentage ranks 28th in Class 2A over the past fourteen seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Pisgah has managed to compile a record of 145-133. Their 52.0% winning percentage ranks 24th in Class 2A and 184th in the AHSAA.

Graduated All-State Players:
       Pisgah lost 2A All-State  offensive lineman JD Martin to graduation. He was named to the first team last season. Also graduating was teammate quarterback Mason Holcomb.

Head Coach:
       The Eagles are led by head coach Luke Pruitt who is entering his seventh season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 41-30 over the past six seasons at Pisgah. Under his direction the Eagles have qualified for the playoffs a total of five times. They have won one region crown with Coach Pruitt.

Season Outlook:

       The Pisgah Eagles will play in Class 2A region seven during the 2024 season.

      

       Pisgah enters the 2024 season with a string of 10 consecutive wins on their home field at Sam Kenimer Stadium.

       No bunch of fans are more happy to see Fyffe move up to 3A than the ones in Pisgah. The Eagles have lost five games the past two seasons. Their last four losses were to Fyffe.

       Last year the Eagle's offense put up 652 points. That number alone should tell you how good this team was. It bested the old school record by 200 points. Coach Pruitt has built something special in Pisgah and has the fans believing that 2024 is their year.

       All around athlete Luke Gilbert will be a team leader at the quarterback position this fall. The Eagles also return nine seniors and twelve juniors this year. A total of seventeen starters from last season will be welcomed back when the season opens in August against Fyffe.

       Coach Pruitt had this to say about the Pisgah Eagles chances this season. ''We return a lot of starters on both sides of the ball and a lot more kids that have played significant snaps. We have lost the last two seasons in the semifinals and we are veteran group we look to stay healthy and expect another run in the playoffs. We want to take the next step and that's to win a state championship.''



    The Eagles enter the season with expectations of not only a region crown but will be contending for a trip to the state championship game. They are considered one the favorites in region seven and could very well be representing the North in the Class 2A title game.

Players to Watch in 2024:
      Luke Gilbert returns and will make the move from receiver to quarterback.

      RB Legion McCrary has accounted for 3,373 yards and 51 TDs in his career and will also be back in 2024. WR Landon Watkins caught pass for 684 yards and 11 touchdowns last year and will also be returning to the offense this season.

Season Opener:
       The Eagles open the 2024 season at home against non-region opponent Fyffe on Thursday, August 29 at Sam Kenimer Stadium. Last year the Fyffe Red Devils finished with an overall record of 14-1 and in first place in Class 2A region seven. The Red Devils won the Class 2A State Championship last season when they defeated Reeltown by a score of 43-24 in the Super Seven finals in Birmingham.

       Pisgah and Fyffe have met a total of 36 times on the football field. The Eagles have a 15-20-1 record against the Red Devils. They last met in 2023 with Fyffe winning by a score of 32-14.
