B.C. Rain completed the 2023 season with a 8-4 record. With their 5-3 region record and a third place finish in Class 5A region one, the Red Raiders earned a spot in the playoffs in 2023. B.C. Rain reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Demopolis by a score of 13-6. The Red Raiders improved in 2023 with their first winning season since 2016. The Red Raiders won as many games as in any season since 2003. Since 2010, the B.C. Rain football program has struggled with a record of 43-101. Over the past 25 seasons, B.C. Rain has managed to compile a record of 100-162. Their 38.0% winning percentage ranks 46th in Class 5A and 298th in the AHSAA. Graduated All-State Players: B.C. Rain lost 5A All-State running back Bryce Dowdlan to graduation. He was named to the second team last season. Also graduating was teammate quarterback Amari Yelding. Head Coach: The Red Raiders are led by head coach Lawrence Yelding who is entering his sixth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 19-33 over the past five seasons at B.C. Rain. Under his direction the Red Raiders have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Yelding. Season Outlook: The B.C. Rain Red Raiders will play in Class 5A region one during the 2024 season. The Red Raiders are coming off their best season since 2003 with eight victories and a playoff win. They have been trending upward under Coach Yelding the past three seasons and hope to build on that recent success. Their first victory over UMS-Wright since 1972 helped propel them to third place finish last year. Only three opponents on the Red Raider's 2024 schedule qualified for the playoffs last season. The Red Raiders have a good shot at one of the last two playoff slots in region one this season. Returning Starters: QB Malachi Adams, G Clinterius Bradley, C Devante Coats, T Isaiah Hawthorne, T Gerardo Fortunato, LB Ricky Nichols, DB, Jordan Vines, DL Aaron Moore Season Opener: The Red Raiders open the 2024 season on the road against non-region opponent Hillcrest Evergreen on Friday, August 23 at Brooks Memorial Stadium. Last year the Hillcrest Evergreen Jaguars finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in fifth place in Class 3A region one. The Jaguars closed out the regular season with a loss to Daphne by a score of 50-18. B.C. Rain and Hillcrest Evergreen have met a total of 4 times on the football field. The Red Raiders have a 2-2-0 record against the Jaguars. They last met in 2009 with B.C. Rain winning by a score of 30-14. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
