2024 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Bob Jones completed the 2023 season with a 5-6 record. With their 5-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 7A region four, the Patriots earned a spot in the playoffs in 2023. Bob Jones's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Hewitt-Trussville by a score of 56-14. Since 2010, Bob Jones has gone a combined 97-59. Their 62.2% winning percentage ranks 12th in Class 7A over the past fourteen seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Bob Jones has managed to compile a record of 153-122. Their 56.0% winning percentage ranks 18th in Class 7A and 125th in the AHSAA. Graduated All-State Players: Bob Jones lost 7A All-State running back Tyren Washington to graduation. He was named to the first team last season. Also graduating was teammate offensive lineman Tafari Alcime. Head Coach: The Patriots are led by head coach Kelvis White who is entering his fifth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 18-25 over the past four seasons at Bob Jones. Under his direction the Patriots have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times. They have not won a region crown with Coach White. Over the course of his career, Coach White's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of eleven times and won one region championship. Season Outlook: The Bob Jones Patriots will play in Class 7A region four during the 2024 season. The Patriots have enjoyed success on the gridiron in the past. Between 2007 and 2018 they celebrated winning seasons every year. But since then they have fallen short of winning more games than they lost in any season. They have not won a playoff game since 2013 going 0-8 against region 3 in 7A. The Patriots will be without RB Tyren Washington who graduated in the spring. The Patriots have a good shot at one of the last two playoff slots in region four this season. Returning Starters: Kicker Josh Stewart, DB William Aldridge, Romeo Washington, CB AJ Mitchell, WR Colt Dixon, WR Kaleb Christopher Season Opener: The Patriots open the 2024 season at home against non-region opponent Cullman on Friday, August 23 at Madison City Schools Stadium. Last year the Cullman Bearcats finished with an overall record of 5-6 and in fourth place in Class 6A region seven. The Bearcats lost in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs to Clay-Chalkville by a score of 49-7. This will be the second meeting between Bob Jones and Cullman on the football field. The Patriots have a 1-0-0 record against the Bearcats. They last met in with | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
