Cornerstone Christian completed the 2023 season with a 11-1 record. Last year Cornerstone Christian captured the region one title and a number one seed in the Class AISA-8 Man playoffs. They finished region play with a 5-0 record. It was the first region championship for the Chargers since the 2016 season. Last year Cornerstone Christian reached the semi-finals before falling to a very good Springwood team by the score of 18-66. Last year the Cornerstone Christian Chargers reached the AISA-AISA-8 Man State Championship game only to fall just short of claiming a title. They were defeated by Springwood in the State Championship game 18-66 in Troy. No team at Cornerstone Christian ever won more games in a season than the eleven victories last year. The 608 points scored by the Chargers last year were a team record in a single season. The Chargers hope to continue the success they had last season. Coach Lee saw improvement as they won eleven games following a 6-5 record in 2022. Since 2010, Cornerstone Christian has gone a combined 62-84. Their 42.5% winning percentage ranks 2nd in Class A over the past fourteen seasons. Over the past 24 seasons, Cornerstone Christian has managed to compile a record of 118-132. Their 47.0% winning percentage ranks 2nd in Class A and 19th in the AISA. Head Coach: The Chargers are led by head coach James Lee who is entering his eighth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 31-41 over the past seven seasons at Cornerstone Christian. Under his direction the Chargers have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times. They have won one region crown with Coach Lee. Coach Lee led to a state championship in 2023. Season Outlook: The Cornerstone Christian Chargers will play in Class A region one during the 2024 season. The Chargers may find the schedule slightly easier this season with the move down in classification from Class AISA-8 Man to A. They will compete in region one this year. Cornerstone Christian enters the 2024 season with a string of 6 consecutive wins on their home field at Michael B. Willis Memorial Field. The Chargers enter the season with expectations of not only a region crown but will be contending for a trip to the state championship game. They are considered one of the favorites not only in their region but to play in the AISA title game in November. Season Opener: The Chargers open the 2024 season on the road against non-region opponent Lighthouse Home School on Friday, August 23. Last year the Lighthouse Home School Warriors finished with an overall record of 10-2 and in place in Class 8 Man region twelve. The Warriors lost in the Class 8 Man State Championship game last season when they were defeated by Evangel Christian Alabaster. They final score was 41-14 in Troy. This will be the second meeting between Cornerstone Christian and Lighthouse Home School on the football field. The Chargers have a 1-0-0 record against the Warriors.
