 2024 Preview

Elberta finished the 2023 season with a disappointing 2-8 record. Last year Elberta finished eighth in Class 5A region one with a 1-7 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

The defense allowed a team record 376 points last season. The Warriors have never qualified for a playoff spot and would love to break that streak this season. The Warriors have never won a playoff game in the school's history. They would like to break through and pick up that first post season victory in 2024.

Elberta was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Warriors want to be competitive. They only averaged 15.7 points a game.

Elberta struggled on the defensive side of the football last year. The defense found little success in stopping opposing offenses as they gave up an average of 37.6 points a game.

The Warriors would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 4-16 record.

Elberta is a relatively new football program having fielded a team only six seasons. They have managed a record of 14-40 over the past six years.

Head Coach:
The Warriors are led by head coach Nathan McDaniel who is entering his fifth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 9-31 over the past four seasons at Elberta. The Warriors have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach McDaniel.

Season Outlook:

The Elberta Warriors will play in Class 5A region one during the 2024 season.

This will be an inexperienced group at Elberta with just seven seniors on the roster in 2023. Coach McDaniel will be counting on some of the younger players who got experience last season to step up and claim the starting positions for the Warriors in 2024.

The Warriors will return seven seniors but the junior and sophomore classes will be loaded with players and talent. They will take the field in Elberta for six home games on the new turf and stadium this fall.

Coach Daniel has about 85 players out this fall so the numbers are great for a 5A school. He also mentioned they had great leadership on this year's squad.

The Warriors will need to win a few more games this fall if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region one this season. After just 2 wins last year, Elberta will be hoping to become more competitive in the region.

Players to Watch in 2024:
RB Rosson Duplesis will be returning for his senior season after rushing for 707 yards.

Returning to the defense will be LB Corbitt Williams who collected 90 tackles (40 solo) and one sack as a junior.

Also returning will be Noah Garcie who collected 78 tackles (38 solo) and 2 sacks as a junior.

Returning Starters:

PLAYERS: LB- Corbitt Williams, QB/ATH- Brady Harrison, RB- Rosson Duplesis, WR- Brandon Nolan, LB- Noah Garcie, OL- Austin Harrison, LB- Brice Brooks, WR/DB- Elijah Allen

Season Opener:
The Warriors open the 2024 season at home against non-region opponent Orange Beach on Friday, August 23. Last year the Orange Beach Makos finished with an overall record of 1-8 and in seventh place in Class 4A region one.

This will be the second meeting between Elberta and Orange Beach on the football field. The Warriors have a 0-1-0 record against the Makos. They last met in with
