2024 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Fairview completed the 2023 season with a 9-2 record. With their 5-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 5A region eight, the Aggies earned a spot in the playoffs in 2023. Fairview's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to John Carroll by a score of 22-14. The defense was very stingy last season as Fairview ranked 14th in the AHSAA. The defense allowed only 10.6 points a game. Since 2010, Fairview has gone a combined 97-57. Their 63.0% winning percentage ranks 16th in Class 5A over the past fourteen seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Fairview has managed to compile a record of 147-121. Their 55.0% winning percentage ranks 14th in Class 5A and 141st in the AHSAA. Graduated All-State Players: Fairview lost 5A All-State offensive lineman Eric Gonzalez to graduation. He was named to the honorable mention team last season. Head Coach: The Aggies are led by head coach George Redding Jr. who is entering his eighteenth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 117-69 over the past seventeen seasons at Fairview. Under his direction the Aggies have qualified for the playoffs a total of eleven times. They have won one region crown with Coach Redding Jr.. His 117 wins rank 51st among active coaches in the AHSAA. Season Outlook: The Fairview Aggies will play in Class 5A region seven during the 2024 season. Following realignment, the Aggies remain in 5A but move from region eight over to region seven. The Aggies from Fairview are putting together a string of great seasons and playoff appearances and have no desire to see things go any way except upward in 2024. Coach Redding has had a prolific offense the past few seasons and you can expect to see more scoring from them this year. The Aggies should be in contention for a playoff spot in region seven this season. Hosting a first round playoff game on their home turf would be an advantage. Returning Starters: RB Jake Harper Season Opener: The Aggies open the 2024 season on the road against non-region opponent Springville on Friday, August 30 at Tiger Stadium. Last year the Springville Tigers finished with an overall record of 5-6 and in fourth place in Class 5A region six. The Tigers lost in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs to Guntersville by a score of 31-7. Fairview and Springville have met a total of 3 times on the football field. The Aggies have a 2-1-0 record against the Tigers. They last met in 2017 with Springville winning by a score of 24-0. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
