 2024 Preview

Lauderdale County completed the 2023 season with a 12-1 record. The Tigers cruised through the regular season with a perfect 10-0 record going into the post season. Last year Lauderdale County captured the region eight title and a number one seed in the Class 3A playoffs. They finished region play with a 6-0 record. Lauderdale County lost in the quarter-finals of the playoffs last season to a good Geraldine team by a score of 55-20.

The Tigers won as many games as in any season since 2012. The 490 points scored by the Tigers last year were a team record in a single season. The Tigers hope to continue the success they had last season. Coach Mason saw improvement as they won twelve games following a 7-5 record in 2022.

Since 2010, Lauderdale County has gone a combined 123-47. Their 72.4% winning percentage ranks 5th in Class 3A over the past fourteen seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Lauderdale County has managed to compile a record of 181-109. Their 62.0% winning percentage ranks 12th in Class 3A and 85th in the AHSAA.

Graduated All-State Players:
Lauderdale County lost 3A All-State  offensive lineman John David Mason to graduation. He was named to the second team last season. Also graduating was teammate defensive lineman Micah Christensen.

Head Coach:
The Tigers are led by head coach Jeff Mason who is entering his ninth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 63-31 over the past eight seasons at Lauderdale County. Under his direction the Tigers have qualified for the playoffs a total of eight times. They have won three region crowns with Coach Mason.

Season Outlook:

The Lauderdale County Tigers will play in Class 3A region seven during the 2024 season. Following realignment, the Tigers remain in 3A but move from region eight over to region seven.

The Tigers enter the 2024 season riding a 10 game regular season winning streak.

One of the best seasons in school history came up a little short in 2023 but the Tigers did finish with a 12-1 record before falling to Geraldine in the third round of the playoffs.

They have qualified for the playoffs in each of the past fourteen football seasons and finished with a winning record each year. Coach Mason has the Tigers humming and they will be out to prove last year was no fluke in Rogersville.

The Tigers are considered one of the favorites for the region seven championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. The Tigers have successfully qualified for the playoffs every year since 2009 and expect to be included again when November rolls around.

Returning Starters:
RB/OLB Jackson Hamm, RB/OLB Brodie Richardson

Season Opener:
The Tigers open the 2024 season on the road against non-region opponent Lexington on Friday, August 23 at McMeans Stadium. Last year the Lexington Golden Bears finished with an overall record of 7-5 and in second place in Class 2A region eight. The Golden Bears lost in the second round of the Class 2A playoffs to Fyffe by a score of 57-24.

Lauderdale County and Lexington have met a total of 76 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 52-22-2 record against the Golden Bears. They last met in 2023 with Lauderdale County winning by a score of 41-20.
