 2024 Preview 


       Macon-East Academy finished the 2023 season with a disappointing 1-10 record. With their 1-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class AA region one, the Knights earned a spot in the playoffs in 2023. Macon-East Academy's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Banks Academy by a score of 40-0.

       Macon-East Academy took a step backwards last year with their first losing season since 2016. The defense allowed a team record 404 points last season. The Knights hope to rebound after a down year. Last season they struggled winning just one game which followed a 7-4 record in 2022.

       Since 2010, Macon-East Academy has gone a combined 73-81. Their 47.4% winning percentage ranks 6th in Class AA over the past fourteen seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Macon-East Academy has managed to compile a record of 163-115. Their 59.0% winning percentage ranks 4th in Class AA and 9th in the AISA.

Head Coach:
       The Knights are led by head coach Glynn Lott who is entering his twenty-ninth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 178-132 over the past twenty-eight seasons at Macon-East Academy. Under his direction the Knights have qualified for the playoffs a total of twenty times. They have won three region crowns with Coach Lott. Coach Lott led to a state championship in 2000. His 178 wins rank 5th among active coaches in the AISA.

Season Outlook:

       The Macon-East Academy Knights will play in Class AA region one during the 2024 season.

      

      

    The Knights could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region one this season with a few breaks and a little improvement. They have managed to qualify for the playoffs every year since 2016 and hopes are high to extend that streak.

Season Opener:
       The Knights open the 2024 season at home against region opponent Lakeside on Friday, August 30 at Knight Field. Last year the Lakeside Chiefs finished with an overall record of 6-5 and in fourth place in Class A region one. The Chiefs lost in the first round of the Class A playoffs to Wilcox Academy by a score of 23-16.

       Macon-East Academy and Lakeside have met a total of 10 times on the football field. The Knights have a 7-3-0 record against the Chiefs. They last met in 2023 with Lakeside winning by a score of 48-16.
