2024 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Red Level finished the 2023 season with a disappointing 2-8 record. Last year Red Level finished seventh in Class 1A region two with a 2-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The Tigers have not qualified for the playoffs since the 2010 season and would love to end that streak this year. Red Level struggled on the defensive side of the football last year. The defense found little success in stopping opposing offenses as they gave up an average of 42.3 points a game. Since 2010, the Red Level football program has struggled with a record of 33-106. Over the past 25 seasons, Red Level has managed to compile a record of 99-163. Their 38.0% winning percentage ranks 40th in Class 1A and 307th in the AHSAA. Head Coach: The Tigers are led by head coach Kenny Skipper who is entering his eighth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 18-50 over the past seven seasons at Red Level. The Tigers have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Skipper. Season Outlook: The Red Level Tigers will play in Class 1A region two during the 2024 season. It's been a while since the Tigers of Red Level were a factor come playoff time. Actually it's been since 2010 which was the last time they reached the post season. They have finished fifth four times just missing out on a spot since that time. The Tigers will need to win a few more games this fall if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region two this season. After just 2 wins last year, Red Level will be hoping to become more competitive in the region. Season Opener: The Tigers open the 2024 season on the road against non-region opponent J.F. Shields on Friday, August 30 at Panther Field (The Pit). Last year the J.F. Shields Panthers finished with an overall record of 0-10 and in seventh place in Class 1A region one. The Panthers closed out the regular season with a loss to Wilcox Central by a score of 54-16. Red Level and J.F. Shields have met a total of 17 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 11-6-0 record against the Panthers. They last met in 2021 with Red Level winning by a score of 49-6. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
