2024 Preview | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Thomasville completed the 2023 season with a 10-2 record. With their 6-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 3A region one, the Tigers earned a spot in the playoffs in 2023. Thomasville lost in the quarter-finals of the playoffs last season to a good St. James team by a score of 28-26. Since 2010, Thomasville has gone a combined 112-52. Their 68.3% winning percentage ranks 9th in Class 3A over the past fourteen seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Thomasville has finished a combined 208-88. Their 70.0% winning percentage ranks 5th in Class 3A and 36th in the AHSAA. Graduated All-State Players: Thomasville lost 3A All-State linebacker Ace Thompson to graduation. He was named to the first team last season. Also graduating was teammate running back DeCorian Cowan. Head Coach: The Tigers are led by head coach Clint Anderson who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 19-6 over the past two seasons at Thomasville. Under his direction the Tigers have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Anderson. Season Outlook: The Thomasville Tigers will play in Class 3A region three during the 2024 season. Following realignment, the Tigers remain in 3A but move from region one over to region three. The big question in Thomasville will be can Coach Anderson win a state championship in baseball and football in the same calendar year? It could be possible. As always it seems the Tigers will be very good once again in 2024. They have reached the playoffs in twenty-one of the past twenty-two seasons and there is no reason to believe they will be left out this year come November. The Tigers are considered one of the favorites for the region three championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. Returning Starters: MLB/RB- Dallas Bryant; RB- Diego Bryant; TE- Charlie Hill; OL- Trevontae Dumas; OL- Walt Anderson; LB- LB Kaden Holt Season Opener: The Tigers open the 2024 season on the road against non-region opponent Leroy on Friday, August 23 at Bobby Farish Field at Palmer Stadium. Last year the Leroy Bears finished with an overall record of 14-0 and in first place in Class 1A region one. The Bears won the Class 1A State Championship last season when they defeated Coosa Christian by a score of 28-21 in the Super Seven finals in Birmingham. Thomasville and Leroy have met a total of 53 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 38-14-1 record against the Bears. They last met in 2021 with Leroy winning by a score of 13-9. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
