I remember Coach Bonds Henderson before the Abrqams- Brighton game in 1962. I had bet all the kids at St. Frncis Mission that Abrams woould beat Brighton. He timed me in my tweed coat in the 100 yard dash in a blazing 18 seconds. . Abrams lost that nite 21-0. As I cried afterewards he went to his trunk outside of Bessemer stadium and gave me my first practice football and told me "winning isn't everything". I know now he is quite right..... |

Yes. Abrams succeeded Dunbar about 1960. Dunbar was oringinally Bessemer Colored HS , founded 1913. For a time HArd HS. Afire prompted the new construction. |
