I don?t know if there?s a quick way to look this up but I plan on clicking around on this site later to see if I can find any other examples of a four (or five, etc) way tie happening before this year. Just to see if I can figure out if the tiebreaker came out similarlly or not.
There was actually a 5-way tie last year in 3A Region 6 between Weaver, Ohatchee, JB Pennington, Westbrook Christian and Walter Wellborn ? all at 4-4 for third place.
Weaver won because of their victory over Locust Fork who was the second place team at 5-2. Once you get the first tiebreak winner, it gets easier because usually only 1 or 2 teams involved have beaten the winner of the original tiebreaker. So when it got to four teams, Ohatchee and Walter Wellborn were the two teams involved in the tie that beat Weaver. Ohatchee beat Walter Wellborn so they were fourth and it was over.
7A R4 goes winless again. Thats six years in a row now. I believe this region has 10 playoff wins all time since 7A was formed in 2014 but 6 of those wins belong to Hewitt and Gadsden in years they were placed in this region.
