It?s something I?ve pondered a lot on since the creation of 7A. Yes, I understand the reasoning behind it because of the one less playoff round but in all fairness 1A-6A plays an additional week and the teams that are privileged to make the finals gets half the preparation time heading into the championship game compared to 7A. That?s practically a week longer to heal & prepare. For smaller schools who don?t have roster depth, that would be a game changer. 3A and under classifications coming off a hard fought semi final game can head into a Thursday/Friday matchup fatigued or beat up.
Should 7A start their playoffs a week later to avoid a bye week heading into the finals? Should the other 6 classifications get the same opportunity with having a bye week heading into the finals? Thoughts!

I get what you are saying but I am not sure it matters. It would be different if some 7A got a bye and others didn?t.
