Mr. Parker, is there any way that you could add the flag football scores and create power ratings or something like that? I was just wondering because I don?t know the bracket.
As far as the power ratings, that is not practical. You just have too many variables that do not exist in football. Some teams play 18 games like Vestavia Hills and some play 3 like Charles Henderson. And those are just the playoff teams. To have a power rating system there has to be some uniformity where teams play close to the same number of games.
Plus I would need the actual scores to all the games. Not just most of them but all the games. Those are not easily found. SI.com has some of the game scores but still missing many of them. Case in point look at Charles Henderson who is 0-3 but missing scores for at least four other games and they are a playoff team. Another team is Fultondale where they have 11 games scheduled but only scores for four with four other games cancelled.
I am working on adding more for flag football but just finding anything much at all is near impossible. I can find only a handful of coaches names for the teams. I can't even find the playoff scores for the past two seasons except for the semifinals and finals.
Basically it boils down to the same thing with any sport other than football. The accurate scores of the games matter and finding them for any other sport for each and every team is impossible.
Flag football has come a long way in a short time but we are limited on what we can do as far as recording the history.
I will be adding the playoff scores for this season and the past three season if I can find them. I will also add the teams with season records soon and a few more things possibly.
Remember our goals here. We record the history of high school sports in Alabama. But first we must find that history to record it.
