Lost to graduation were some of the best players in the state including Landon Duckworth, EJ Crowell, Demetrius Wilson, Jamarion Gordon and Laquon Whisenhunt.

Susan Moore   Bulldogs     (3-8)

Outlook:   Can the Bulldogs do something they have never done in the school's history in 2026? That would be to reach the playoffs for the fourth consecutive year. While they have qualified for the playoffs a total of 34 times they have never put four seasons in a row together.
Sam Garrison completed 75 of 166 passes for 1,414 yards and 15 TDs and will return for his Junior season. He also rushed for 1,364 yards and 20 TDs. Lucas Beard caught 33 passes for 763 yards and 9 TDs and will also return for his Junior season.

Vinemont   Eagles     (6-5)

Outlook:   The Eagles may have pulled off the biggest upset of 2025 when they knocked off Gordo in week eight of the season. The problem was following that huge upset the Eagles finished the season with a three game losing streak. So there were positives and negatives for Vinemont in 2025.
A little more consistency in 2026 may just lead the Eagles back to a post season spot for the seventh consecutive year.

Region 7

Central Florence   Wildcats     (5-5)

Outlook:   A 5-5 record had to be a disappointment in Florence for the Wildcats last year. After great years the previous two seasons it seems the offense could not hold up to expectations during the long regular season. Late season losses to West Morgan and Hatton took away any hopes of a playoff spot.
The Wildcats missed the playoffs for the first time in seven seasons last year but with realignment they should be planning a return trip in 2026.

Outlook:   It's been four seasons since the Colts of Clements reached the playoffs. They did take a step forward last year and with a little luck could find themselves back in the hunt for a playoff spot in 2026.

Other Returning Players:

Colbert Heights   Wildcats     (5-5)

Outlook:   A promising five game winning streak to open the 2025 football season ended with a five game losing streak to end the season and dash any hopes of making the playoffs. A little easier region realignment in 2026 could renew hopes of getting back to the post season for the Wildcats after a four year absence.

Elkmont   Red Devils     (1-9)

Outlook:   It's been more than ten seasons since the Red Devils won more games than they lost or reached the post season. Another coaching change with renewed hope of turning this thing around soon could be on the horizon.
Cooper Wales caught 64 passes for 1,013 yards and 13 TDs and will return for his Junior season. Reid Bardos completed 164 of 287 passes for 2,363 yards and 27 TDs and will also return for his Junior season.

2024 Coaching Change
Joel Schrenk stepped down as the head football coach at Woodland in January. He led the football program the past two seasons with a record of 4-16. He leaves after a dozen seasons as the head coach at Falkville, Hazel Green and Woodland. His overall record stands at 60-66. Schrenk arrives in Elkmont in hopes of turning around a program that has struggled recently.

Other Returning Players:

Lauderdale County   Tigers     (7-4)

Outlook:   The Tigers from Rogersville have qualified for the playoffs every season over the past fifteen years but have yet to make a trip past the semifinals. With Mars Hill gone from Class 3A could that be the spark they need in 2026 to take that next step forward?

Rogers   Pirates     (5-6)

Outlook:   With the AHSAA realignment the Rogers Pirates find themselves in a little better situation in Region Seven. Only two teams from their current region made the playoffs last year. It seems there may be an opportunity for the Pirates to grab one of those four spots this fall.

West Limestone   Wildcats     (2-8)

Outlook:   A 2-8 record last year was the worst showing at West Limestone since 2008. With the AHSAA realignment the Wildcats find themselves in a little better situation in Region Seven. They will need to see some improvement but a playoff spot is not out of the question this fall.

Geraldine   Bulldogs     (11-2)

Outlook:   One team no one wishes to face in Class 3A are the Geraldine Bulldogs. Another team may defeat them but they will most certainly know they were in a battle. Michael Davis has done a fantastic job of building a great football program at Geraldine. His team will always be in the hunt for a region championship and beyond.
The last three seasons ended with losses to Mars Hill (twice) and Madison Academy. Well those two schools along with all the other private schools have been vanquished to their own division. That may just be what the Bulldogs need to take that next step toward a state championship.
The Bulldogs will enter the season with one of the most dynamic players in any classification. Jon Beck Wade rushed for 1,454 yards and 26 TDs and will return for his Junior season.

New Hope   Indians     (2-8)

Outlook:   The last time New Hope won more games than they lost was back in 2015. It was also the last time they reached the playoffs. Coach Peavey arrives at the school with thoughts of ending those streaks in 2026.
Lucas Terry completed 132 of 233 passes for 1,758 yards and 11 TDs and will return for his Senior season. Landon Tate-Matthews caught 41 passes for 669 yards and 2 TDs and will also return for his Sophomore season.

North Jackson   Chiefs     (7-4)

Outlook:   The North Jackson Chiefs looked like a really good football team at times last year and put points by the bunches at times. Other times they just could not get the offense going against teams like Scottsboro and Deshler.
Fans think the Chiefs will be more than competitive in Region Eight and take home one of those playoff spots when November rolls around.
Nick Price Jr. rushed for 2,109 yards and 23 TDs and will return for his Senior season.

Plainview   Bears     (13-1)

Outlook:   What a season for the Bears in 2025! The only thing that stood between them and a trip to the 4A state championship game was a very close loss to Anniston in the semi-finals. It was a record setting amazing season for the Bears to say the least. And to think they had missed the playoffs the previous three seasons.
Kylen Johnson rushed for 1,502 yards and 25 TDs and will return for his Junior season. He also caught 45 passes for 727 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2025 for Coosa Christian before transferring to Plainview.
The Bears will need to find a replacement for all-state quarterback Owen Hope when fall practice opens in August.
