 2016 Preview

Last year Brindlee Mountain finished eighth in Class 3A region 7 with a 0-7 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

The Lions would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 3-17 record. Since 2010, Brindlee Mountain has gone a combined 9-51. Their 15.0% winning percentage ranks 56th in Class 3A over the past six seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Brindlee Mountain has not won much with a record of 13-87. Their 13.0% winning percentage ranks 59th in Class 3A and 379th in the AHSAA.

The Lions are led by head coach Matt Self who is entering his first season at the helm. His team finished with a 1-9 record in his first season at Brindlee Mountain. The Lions have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Self.

Coach Self's overall record as a head football coach in one seasons stands at 1-9 (10.0%).

The Lions enter the 2016 season in the middle of a 9 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season.

The Brindlee Mountain Lions will play in Class 3A region 7 during the 2016 season.

This season, the Lions will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in Region 7.

The Lions open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent J.B. Pennington on Friday, August 19 at W.R. Sutton Memorial Stadium. Last year the J.B. Pennington Tigers finished with an overall record of 2-8 and in eighth place in Class 4A region 7. The ended last season on a positive note with a win over Susan Moore by a score of 47-14 after failing to gain a playoff spot.

Brindlee Mountain and J.B. Pennington have met a total of 6 times on the football field. The Lions have a 0-6-0 record against the Tigers. They last met in 2022 with J.B. Pennington winning by a score of 55-0.
