Last year Holly Pond finished seventh in Class 3A region 5 with a 0-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The Broncos would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 1-19 record. Since 2010, Holly Pond has gone a combined 8-53. Their 13.0% winning percentage ranks 57th in Class 3A over the past six seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Holly Pond has managed to compile a record of 92-165. Their 36.0% winning percentage ranks 49th in Class 3A and 311st in the AHSAA. The Broncos are led by head coach Mike Bates who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 1-29 over the past three seasons at Holly Pond. The Broncos have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Bates. Coach Bates's overall record as a head football coach in twenty-seven seasons stands at 152-138 (52.4%). His 152 wins rank 20th among active coaches in the AHSAA. This season, the Broncos will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in Region 6. The Broncos open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Coosa Christian on Friday, August 19 . Last year the Coosa Christian Conquerors finished with an overall record of 0-10 and in seventh place in Class 1A region 7. The closed out the regular season with a loss to Donoho by a score of 28-6. Holly Pond and Coosa Christian have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Broncos have a 2-0-0 record against the Conquerors.
