 2016 Preview

Last year Monroe County finished fifth in Class 4A region 1 with a 2-4 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

The Tigers would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 4-16 record. Since 2010, Monroe County has gone a combined 12-48. Their 20.0% winning percentage ranks 56th in Class 4A over the past six seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Monroe County has not won much with a record of 68-186. Their 27.0% winning percentage ranks 56th in Class 4A and 360th in the AHSAA.

The Tigers are led by head coach Juan Williams who is entering his second season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 4-16 over the past two seasons at Monroe County. The Tigers have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Williams.

Coach Williams's overall record as a head football coach in ten seasons stands at 42-62 (40.4%). Over the course of his career, Coach Williams's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times and won one region championship.

The Monroe County Tigers will play in Class 4A region 1 during the 2016 season.

It will be an uphill battle for the Tigers if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in Region 1 this season.

The Tigers open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent J.F. Shields on Friday, August 19 at Panther Field (The Pit). Last year the J.F. Shields Panthers finished with an overall record of 0-8 and in seventh place in Class 1A region 1. The closed out the regular season with a loss to Florala by a score of 58-18.

Monroe County and J.F. Shields have met a total of 36 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 32-4-0 record against the Panthers. They last met in 2022 with Monroe County winning by a score of 62-0.
