 2016 Preview 


       Gulf Shores finished the 2015 season with a disappointing 1-9 record. Last year Gulf Shores finished ninth in Class 6A region one with a 1-7 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       The Dolphins lost as many games as in any season since 2003.

       The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Gulf Shores averaged scoring just 13.5 points a game.

       Since 2010, Gulf Shores has gone a combined 26-35. Their 43.0% winning percentage ranks 43rd in Class 6A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 16 seasons, Gulf Shores has managed to compile a record of 62-99. Their 38.0% winning percentage ranks 48th in Class 6A and 294th in the AHSAA.

       The Dolphins are led by head coach Jamie Williams who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 1-9 record in his first season at Gulf Shores. The Dolphins have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Williams.

       Coach Williams' overall record as a head football coach in three season stands at 8-22 (26.7%). Over the course of his career, Coach Williams' teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of one time .

       The Gulf Shores Dolphins will play in Class 6A region one during the 2016 season.

       This season, the Dolphins will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region one.

       The Dolphins open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Mountain Brook on Friday, August 19 at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium. Last year the Mountain Brook Spartans finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in seventh place in Class 7A region three. The Spartans ended last season on a positive note with a win over Huffman by a score of 17-0 after failing to gain a playoff spot.

       Gulf Shores and Mountain Brook have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Dolphins have a 0-2-0 record against the Spartans. They last met in with
