2016 Preview | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Russell Christian finished the 2015 season with a disappointing 1-10 record. No team at Russell Christian ever won more games in a season than the one victories last year. No team at Russell Christian ever lost more games in a season than the ten they lost last year. The 144 points scored by the Warriors last year were a team record in a single season. The defense allowed a team record 439 points last season. The Warriors have never qualified for a playoff spot and would love to break that streak this season. The Warriors have never won a playoff game in the school's history. They would like to break through and pick up that first post season victory in 2016. The Warriors would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 1-19 record. Russell Christian is a relatively new football program having fielded a team only two seasons. They have managed a record of 1-19 over the past two years. The Warriors are led by head coach Nate Ballard who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 1-20 over the past two seasons at Russell Christian. The Warriors have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Ballard. Coach Ballard's overall record as a head football coach in two season stands at 1-20 (4.8%). The Russell Christian Warriors will play in Class 8 Man region one during the 2016 season. The Warriors may find the schedule slightly easier this season with the move down in classification from Class AA to 8 Man. They will compete in region one this year. The Warriors enter the 2016 season in the middle of a 6 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season. This season, the Warriors will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region one. The Warriors open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Lauderdale County on Friday, August 19. Last year the Lauderdale County Tigers finished with an overall record of 9-4 and in second place in Class 3A region eight. The Tigers lost in the quarter-finals round of the Class 3A playoffs to Colbert County by a score of 39-20. This will be the first meeting between Russell Christian and Lauderdale County on the football field. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
