South Montgomery Academy finished the 2015 season with a disappointing 0-9 record. The Raiders have not qualified for the playoffs since the 2010 season and would love to end that streak this year. The Raiders last playoff victory came during the 2003 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win. The Raiders would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 0-19 record. Since 2010, the South Montgomery Academy football program has struggled with a record of 12-48. Over the past 25 seasons, South Montgomery Academy has managed to compile a record of 92-164. Their 36.0% winning percentage ranks 13th in Class A and 35th in the AISA. Their last winning season was 2003. Tim Davenport leaves South Montgomery Academy without collecting a victory in two seasons at the school. Rob Hollingshead will lead the football program at South Montgomery Academy in 2016. The South Montgomery Academy Raiders will play in Class A region one during the 2016 season. Following realignment, the Raiders remain in A but move from region two over to region one. The Raiders enter the 2016 season in the middle of a 19 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season. This season, the Raiders will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region one. After not winning a single game last year, the goal at South Montgomery Academy will be to simply win some games. The Raiders open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Southern Academy on Friday, August 26 at Johnston Stadium. Last year the Southern Academy Cougars finished with an overall record of 2-8 and in sixth place in Class A region one. The Cougars closed out the regular season with a loss to Cornerstone Christian by a score of 34-7. South Montgomery Academy and Southern Academy have met a total of 3 times on the football field.
