2016 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Springville finished the 2015 season with a disappointing 2-8 record. Last year Springville finished eighth in Class 5A region six with a 0-7 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The Tigers have not qualified for the playoffs since the 2009 season and would love to end that streak this year. The Tigers last playoff victory came during the 2005 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win. The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Springville averaged scoring just 10.6 points a game. The Tigers would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 4-16 record. Since 2010, the Springville football program has struggled with a record of 17-43. Over the past 25 seasons, Springville has managed to compile a record of 164-116. Their 59.0% winning percentage ranks 16th in Class 5A and 96th in the AHSAA. The Tigers are led by head coach Steve Davis who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 4-16 over the past two seasons at Springville. The Tigers have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Davis. Coach Davis' overall record as a head football coach in two season stands at 4-16 (20.0%). The Springville Tigers will play in Class 5A region six during the 2016 season. It will be an uphill battle for the Tigers if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region six this season. After just 2 wins last year, Springville will be hoping to become more competitive in the region. The Tigers open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Moody on Friday, August 26 at Bill Morris Stadium. Last year the Moody Blue Devils finished with an overall record of 6-4 and in sixth place in Class 5A region six. The Blue Devils ended last season on a positive note with a win over Arab by a score of 21-7 after failing to gain a playoff spot. Springville and Moody have met a total of 37 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 16-21-0 record against the Blue Devils. They last met in 2015 with Moody winning by a score of 42-7. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
