Clay-Chalkville completed the 2016 season with a 6-5 record. With their 4-2 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 6A region six, the Cougars earned a spot in the playoffs in 2016. Clay-Chalkville's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Ramsay by a score of 38-28. The defense allowed a team record 370 points last season. The Cougars hope to get back closer to the 14-1 record in 2015. Since 2010, Clay-Chalkville has gone a combined 67-23. The Cougars open the 2017 season on the road against non-region opponent Florence on Friday, August 25 at Braly Municipal Stadium.
