Demopolis completed the 2016 season with a 7-4 record. Last year Demopolis captured the region three title and a number one seed in the Class 5A playoffs. They finished region play with a 6-0 record. Demopolis's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Lincoln by a score of 27-24. Since 2010, Demopolis has gone a combined 55-26. Their 68.0% winning percentage ranks 8th in Class 5A over the past seven seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Demopolis has gone a combined 221-86. Their 72.0% winning percentage ranks 6th in Class 5A and 24th in the AHSAA. The Tigers have been successful on the football field with twenty-four winning seasons during this time. Their last losing season was 1994. Stacy Luker stepped down as the head football coach at Demopolis after just two years at the school. His two teams went 17-7 and 2-2 in the playoffs. It did not take him long to find another job at Clarke County where he will bring a winning attitude to the program. Brian Seymore arrives in Demopolis with a 69-48 record in eleven seasons as a head football coach. He moves from Mary Montgomery where in two seasons his teams went 8-12. He has previously served as a head football coach at Pike Liberal Arts (15-7 and Andalusia (46-29). Coach Seymore's overall record as a head football coach in eleven season stands at 69-48 (59.0%). Over the course of his career, Coach Seymore's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of seven times and won two region championships. The Demopolis Tigers will play in Class 5A region three during the 2017 season. The Tigers should be considered one of the favorites for the region three championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. The Tigers have successfully qualified for the playoffs every year since 1995 and expect to be included again when November rolls around. The Tigers open the 2017 season on the road against non-region opponent Thomasville on Friday, August 25 at Anderson Field. Last year the Thomasville Tigers finished with an overall record of 9-3 and in second place in Class 4A region one. The Tigers lost in the quarter-finals round of the Class 4A playoffs to Handley by a score of 36-18. Demopolis and Thomasville have met a total of 50 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 27-20-3 record against the Tigers. They last met in 2015 with Demopolis winning by a score of 27-0. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
