New Brockton completed the 2016 season with a 7-5 record. With their 5-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 2A region three, the Gamecocks earned a spot in the playoffs in 2016. New Brockton reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to G.W. Long by a score of 41-10. The 485 points scored by the Gamecocks last year were a team record in a single season. The Gamecocks had some tough luck last season as three of their five losses were by less than eight points. The high-scoring New Brockton offense ranked 26th in the AHSAA. They averaged 40.4 points a game. Since 2010, New Brockton has gone a combined 41-35. Their 54.0% winning percentage ranks 21st in Class 2A over the past seven seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, New Brockton has managed to compile a record of 133-141. Their 48.0% winning percentage ranks 30th in Class 2A and 215th in the AHSAA. The Gamecocks are led by head coach Justin Jones who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 23-11 over the past three seasons at New Brockton. The Gamecocks open the 2017 season at home against non-region opponent Georgiana on Friday, September 1 at Gamecck Stadium. Last year the Georgiana Panthers finished with an overall record of 12-1 and in first place in Class 1A region two. The Panthers lost in the quarter-finals round of the Class 1A playoffs to Linden by a score of 52-12. New Brockton and Georgiana have met a total of 12 times on the football field.
