Senior Marcus McGhee returns after rushing for 360 yards on 62 carries and scoring 3 touchdowns. The Tigers open the 2017 season on the road against non-region opponent Highland Home on Friday, September 1 at Clay Stadium. Last year the Highland Home Flying Squadron finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in fifth place in Class 1A region three. The Flying Squadron closed out the regular season with a loss to Prattville Christian by a score of 47-28. Luverne and Highland Home have met a total of 87 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 66-18-3 record against the Flying Squadron. They last met in 2016 with Luverne winning by a score of 20-0. Luverne returns 2A All-State Senior running back Marcus McGhee. He was named to the second team last season. The Tigers also return Senior offensive lineman Tyler Harris.
