 2023 Preview

Crossville finished the 2022 season with a disappointing 0-10 record. Last year Crossville finished seventh in Class 5A region seven with a 0-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

The Lions last playoff victory came during the 2000 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win.

The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Crossville averaged scoring just 8.8 points a game. The Lions also struggled on the defensive side of the football as they found little success in stopping opposing offenses and allowed an average of 43.0 points a game.

The Lions would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 0-20 record. Since 2010, the Crossville football program has struggled with a record of 28-103.

Over the past 25 seasons, Crossville has not won much with a record of 88-171. Their 34.0% winning percentage ranks 50th in Class 5A and 324th in the AHSAA. Their last winning season was 2010.

The Lions enter the 2023 season in the middle of a 20 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season.

This season, the Lions will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region seven. After not winning a single game last year, the goal at Crossville will be to simply win some games.

The Lions open the 2023 season at home against non-region opponent Abbeville Christian on Friday, August 25 at Crossville Memorial Stadium. Last year the Abbeville Christian Generals finished with an overall record of 4-7 and in fourth place in Class AA region one. The Generals lost in the first round of the Class AA playoffs to Patrician Academy by a score of 55-13.

This will be the first meeting between Crossville and Abbeville Christian on the football field.
