 2023 Preview

Hanceville completed the 2022 season with a 4-6 record. Last year Hanceville just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 4A region six with a 2-4 region record.

The Bulldogs won as many games as in any season since 2013. The Bulldogs last playoff victory came during the 1995 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win.

Since 2010, Hanceville has gone a combined 52-81. Their 39.1% winning percentage ranks 44th in Class 4A over the past thirteen seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Hanceville has not won much with a record of 87-170. Their 34.0% winning percentage ranks 49th in Class 4A and 327th in the AHSAA.

The Bulldogs are led by head coach Ryan Brewer who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 7-13 over the past two seasons at Hanceville. The Bulldogs have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Brewer.

The Bulldogs could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region six this season with a few breaks and a little improvement. Hanceville has failed to qualify for the playoffs since 2013 but hope to return to the post season this year.

The Bulldogs open the 2023 season at home against non-region opponent Brewer on Friday, August 25 at Ray Talley Stadium. Last year the Brewer Patriots finished with an overall record of 5-6 and in third place in Class 5A region eight. The Patriots lost in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs to Scottsboro by a score of 45-14.

Hanceville and Brewer have met a total of 18 times on the football field. The Bulldogs have a 14-4-0 record against the Patriots. They last met in 2022 with Brewer winning by a score of 20-13.
