 2023 Preview 


       McAdory completed the 2022 season with a 6-5 record. With their 4-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 6A region four, the Yellow Jackets earned a spot in the playoffs in 2022. McAdory's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Homewood by a score of 35-30.

       The Yellow Jackets had some tough luck last season as three of their five losses were by less than eight points.

       As one of the best football programs in the state since 2010, McAdory has gone a combined 110-46. Their 70.5% winning percentage ranks 14th in Class 6A over the past thirteen seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, McAdory has finished a combined 218-77. Their 74.0% winning percentage ranks 5th in Class 6A and 24th in the AHSAA. The Yellow Jackets have been successful on the football field with twenty-four winning seasons during this time.




       The Yellow Jackets are led by head coach Aryvia Holmes who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 13-9 over the past two seasons at McAdory. Under his direction the Yellow Jackets have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Holmes.

       The Yellow Jackets have a good shot at one of the last two playoff slots in region four this season. They have qualified for the playoffs every year since 1996 and are hopeful to continue that streak in 2023.

      Four star athlete JaCorey Whitted will be back at the tight end position.

       The Yellow Jackets open the 2023 season at home against non-region opponent Oxford on Friday, August 25 at McAdory Stadium. Last year the Oxford Yellow Jackets finished with an overall record of 5-6 and in fourth place in Class 6A region six. The Yellow Jackets lost in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs to Gardendale by a score of 31-14.

       McAdory and Oxford have met a total of 5 times on the football field. The Yellow Jackets have a 4-1-0 record against the Yellow Jackets. They last met in 2022 with McAdory winning by a score of 35-21.
