 2023 Preview

Tarrant finished the 2022 season with a disappointing 2-8 record. Last year Tarrant finished seventh in Class 3A region five with a 0-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Tarrant averaged scoring just 11.6 points a game.

The Wildcats would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 2-16 record. Since 2010, Tarrant has gone a combined 40-86. Their 31.7% winning percentage ranks 51st in Class 3A over the past thirteen seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Tarrant has managed to compile a record of 132-134. Their 50.0% winning percentage ranks 33rd in Class 3A and 186th in the AHSAA.

The Wildcats will be under the direction of new head football coach Matt Stockton as they enter the 2023 season.  Coach Stockton lands his first head coaching job this season at Tarrant

This season, the Wildcats will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region five.

The Wildcats open the 2023 season on the road against non-region opponent Talladega County Central on Friday, August 25 at Alumni Field. Last year the Talladega County Central Fighting Tigers finished with an overall record of 0-10 and in seventh place in Class 1A region six. The Fighting Tigers closed out the regular season with a loss to Gaylesville by a score of 54-14.

Tarrant and Talladega County Central have met a total of 4 times on the football field. The Wildcats have a 4-0-0 record against the Fighting Tigers. They last met in 2022 with Tarrant winning by a score of 27-6.
