 2024 Preview 


       Abbeville Christian finished the 2023 season with a disappointing 1-9 record.

       The defense allowed a team record 459 points last season.

       Since 2010, Abbeville Christian has gone a combined 77-86. Their 47.2% winning percentage ranks 7th in Class AA over the past fourteen seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Abbeville Christian has managed to compile a record of 118-155. Their 43.0% winning percentage ranks 9th in Class AA and 21st in the AISA.

Graduated All-State Players:
       Abbeville Christian lost AISA All-State  offensive lineman JaVarse Turner to graduation. He was named to the second team last season.

Head Coach:
       The Generals are led by head coach Matthew Mims who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 5-16 over the past two seasons at Abbeville Christian. Under his direction the Generals have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Mims.

Season Outlook:

       The Abbeville Christian Generals will play in Class AA region one during the 2024 season.

      

      

    The Generals could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region one this season with a few breaks and a little improvement. Abbeville Christian came up short of the playoffs last year but are optimistic of a return to the post season this year.

Season Opener:
       The Generals open the 2024 season on the road against non-region opponent Evangel Christian Alabaster on Friday, August 23 at Hoover Central Park. Last year the Evangel Christian Alabaster Lightning finished with an overall record of 12-1 and in place in Class 8 Man region nine. The Lightning won the Class 8 Man State Championship last season when they defeated Lighthouse Home School by a score of 41-14 in Troy.

       This will be the second meeting between Abbeville Christian and Evangel Christian Alabaster on the football field. The Generals have a 0-1-0 record against the Lightning. They last met in with
