 2024 Preview 


       American Christian completed the 2023 season with a 8-3 record. With their 6-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 4A region three, the Patriots earned a spot in the playoffs in 2023. American Christian's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to B.T. Washington by a score of 22-12.

       Since 2010, American Christian has gone a combined 126-45. Their 73.7% winning percentage ranks 4th in Class 4A over the past fourteen seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, American Christian has finished a combined 231-76. Their 75.0% winning percentage ranks 1st in Class 4A and 12th in the AHSAA. The Patriots have been successful on the football field with twenty-one winning seasons during this time.

Graduated All-State Players:
       American Christian lost 4A All-State  receiver Davis Dare to graduation. He was named to the second team last season.

Head Coach:
       The Patriots are led by head coach Cody Martin who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 28-8 over the past three seasons at American Christian. Under his direction the Patriots have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times. They have won two region crowns with Coach Martin.

Season Outlook:

       The American Christian Patriots will play in Class 4A region four during the 2024 season. Following realignment, the Patriots remain in 4A but move from region three over to region four.

       American Christian will face six opponents that reached the playoffs last season.

       The Patriots enter the 2024 season riding a 6 game regular season winning streak.

       With the AHSAA realignment region 4 has six teams that qualified for the playoffs last year. Not all of those teams will make the post season this year.

       The Patriots have reached the playoffs every year since 2015 and have won at least eight games the past seven seasons so winning is a way of life at American Christian.

       The Patriots will return starting quarterback Kai Young who will lead the offense in 2024.

    The Patriots should be in contention for a playoff spot in region four this season. Hosting a first round playoff game on their home turf would be an advantage. They have reached the playoffs every year since 2014 and will once again be in the hunt for a spot in 2024.

Players to Watch in 2024:
      QB Kai Young will be returning after completing 128-of-206 passes for 1,826 yards and 22 TDs last season.

RB Logan Morris, WR/FS Eric Hines, WR/MLB Cade Durrett, RB Christian Davis, C/MLB Connor Noland, LB Evan Lightsey

Season Opener:
       The Patriots open the 2024 season on the road against non-region opponent Tuscaloosa Academy on Friday, August 23 at Knights Stadium. Last year the Tuscaloosa Academy Knights finished with an overall record of 10-3 and in first place in Class 2A region five. The Knights lost in the quarter-finals round of the Class 2A playoffs to Pisgah by a score of 36-29.

       American Christian and Tuscaloosa Academy have met a total of 7 times on the football field. The Patriots have a 3-4-0 record against the Knights. They last met in 2023 with American Christian winning by a score of 33-20.
