 2024 Preview 


       Hooper Academy completed the 2023 season with a 4-7 record. With their 2-2 region record and a third place finish in Class AA region one, the Colts earned a spot in the playoffs in 2023. Hooper Academy's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Patrician Academy by a score of 52-13.

       It marked the first time since the 2020 season that the Colts qualified for the playoffs. The Colts last playoff victory came during the 1997 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win.

       Since 2010, Hooper Academy has gone a combined 49-99. Their 33.1% winning percentage ranks 11th in Class AA over the past fourteen seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Hooper Academy has not won much with a record of 83-177. Their 32.0% winning percentage ranks 10th in Class AA and 24th in the AISA.

Head Coach:
       The Colts are led by head coach Marty Baker who is entering his fifth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 14-27 over the past four seasons at Hooper Academy. Under his direction the Colts have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Baker.

Season Outlook:

       The Hooper Academy Colts will play in Class AA region one during the 2024 season.

      

      

    The Colts have a good shot at one of the last two playoff slots in region one this season.

Season Opener:
       The Colts open the 2024 season on the road against non-region opponent Edgewood Academy on Friday, August 30 at Edgewood Stadium. Last year the Edgewood Academy Wildcats finished with an overall record of 4-7 and in second place in Class AA region one. The Wildcats lost in the first round of the Class AA playoffs to Clarke Prep by a score of 21-14.

       Hooper Academy and Edgewood Academy have met a total of 25 times on the football field. The Colts have a 12-13-0 record against the Wildcats. They last met in 2023 with Edgewood Academy winning by a score of 20-2.
