 2024 Preview 


       Jackson Academy completed the 2023 season with a 9-3 record. With their 3-1 region record and a second place finish in Class A region two, the Eagles earned a spot in the playoffs in 2023. Last year Jackson Academy reached the semi-finals before falling to a very good Lowndes Academy team by the score of 48-14.

       Over the past two seasons the Eagles have Finished 21-4 and will be looking to continue that winning tradition. Since 2010, Jackson Academy has gone a combined 100-63. Their 61.3% winning percentage ranks 3rd in Class AA over the past fourteen seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Jackson Academy has managed to compile a record of 144-133. Their 52.0% winning percentage ranks 8th in Class AA and 17th in the AISA.

Graduated All-State Players:
       Jackson Academy lost AISA All-State  receiver Chuck Richardson to graduation. He was named to the first team last season. Also graduating were teammates linebacker Zander Jordan and offensive lineman James Cunningham.

2024 Head Coach:
    Ashley Carlisle  Over the course of his career, Coach Carlisle's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of twelve times and won one region championship. Coach Carlisle won two state championships prior to arriving at Jackson Academy, the last coming in 2015 at Abbeville Christian.

       If Jackson Academy can win four games this season, Coach Carlisle will reach the 100 win milestone.

Season Outlook:

       The Jackson Academy Eagles will play in Class AA region two during the 2024 season. The Eagles move up in classification to Class AA. They may find the going slightly tougher with the move.

      

      

    While most teams rebuild during the off season, Jackson Academy has been a consistent winner the past few years and will simply reload this season.     The Eagles should be in contention for a playoff spot in region two this season. Hosting a first round playoff game on their home turf would be an advantage. They have reached the playoffs every year since 2012 and will once again be in the hunt for a spot in 2024.

Season Opener:
       The Eagles open the 2024 season at home against non-region opponent Escambia Academy on Friday, August 30 at McCorquodale Stadium. Last year the Escambia Academy Cougars finished with an overall record of 3-8 and in fourth place in Class AA region two. The Cougars lost in the first round of the Class AA playoffs to Chambers Academy by a score of 55-18.

       Jackson Academy and Escambia Academy have met a total of 22 times on the football field. The Eagles have a 11-11-0 record against the Cougars. They last met in 2023 with Jackson Academy winning by a score of 46-18.

The first night game played between high school teams in the state occurred on September 23, 1927 when Pike Road and Cloverdale met in the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery.
