 2024 Preview 


       Red Bay completed the 2023 season with a 6-5 record. With their 3-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 2A region eight, the Tigers earned a spot in the playoffs in 2023. Red Bay's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Tuscaloosa Academy by a score of 35-16.

       Since 2010, Red Bay has gone a combined 108-49. Their 68.8% winning percentage ranks 5th in Class 2A over the past fourteen seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Red Bay has finished a combined 197-90. Their 69.0% winning percentage ranks 3rd in Class 2A and 50th in the AHSAA.

Graduated All-State Players:
       Red Bay lost 2A All-State  offensive lineman Kyler Watson to graduation. He was named to the second team last season.

Head Coach:
       The Tigers are led by head coach Heath Childers who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 14-17 over the past three seasons at Red Bay. Under his direction the Tigers have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Childers. Over the course of his career, Coach Childers' teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times .

Season Outlook:

       The Red Bay Tigers will play in Class 2A region eight during the 2024 season.

      

       The Tigers started last year 5-2 but faltered late and finished the season with a 6-5 record. There was some improvement as they scored more points and allowed fewer than the previous season.

    The Tigers have a good shot at one of the last two playoff slots in region eight this season.

Players to Watch in 2024:
      RB Jaxon Vinson will be back after rushing for 1,359 yards and 19 TDs last season.

Season Opener:
       The Tigers open the 2024 season on the road against non-region opponent Lamar County on Friday, August 30 at George Bell Stadium. Last year the Lamar County Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 7-4 and in fourth place in Class 2A region five. The Bulldogs lost in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs to Tanner by a score of 64-55.

       Red Bay and Lamar County have met a total of 10 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 2-8-0 record against the Bulldogs. They last met in 2017 with Lamar County winning by a score of 21-12.
