Week 2

This is the time of year when the weeks fly by. We are already two weeks into the 2011 season and a few tidbits on this past weekend's action.

  *  Daphne, Leeds and Thomasville all continued their state leading 17 game winning streaks.

   *  Central Hayneville continues to top our list with thirty-four consecutive losses.

   *  Crenshaw Christian has won twenty-one regular season games in a row.

   *   Handley won at home and their streak continues with twenty-seven home wins in a row.

   *   Cold Springs has lost twenty-five straight region games.

   *   The T.R. Miller Tigers have scored in 307 consecutive games.

   *  Sweet Water has won thirty-four straight region games.



Note: The new schools will not be included in team records because of the obvious reasons.

Teams that set team records.

   *   Austin set a team record for most points scored and most points scored by both teams in a 63-33 win over Huffman.

   *   Thorsby set a team record for points allowed in a 20-68 loss to Francis Marion.

   *   Walter Wellborn set a team record for margin of victory in a 65-0 thrashing of Central Coosa. Coosa Central set a record for most points allowed.

Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

Morris Higginbotham coached three different teams to divisional state championships in the 1950s. He won titles at Walnut Grove in 1952, West Blocton in 1955 and Enterprise in 1960.
