AHSFHS.org Report
(Sept. 2, 2012)

Week 1

The 2012 season began with a bang for many teams last Friday night. Here are a few tidbits from this past weekend's action.

   *  Which team has the best winning percentage all-time in high school football from the state of Alabama? Well, actually it is a trick question. Central Clay County won their first ever football game last Friday night and currently have a winning percentage of 1.000. That would easily give them the all-time lead. The other new teams from Southeastern, Pope John Paul II and James Clemens all lost in their initial games this weekend.

   *  The Handley Tigers opened the season with a surprising upset at the hands of Beauregard by a score of 29-47. The lose at home ended the Tigers home winning streak at an impressive 34 games. Dadeville currently holds on to the top spot with a streak of twenty-one consecutive games won on their home turf. Maplesville, Tanner and Thomasville are right behind with streaks of twenty.

   *  Crenshaw Christian lost to end their streak of twenty-nine regular season wins. Dadeville and Tanner now share the lead with twenty-seven game regular season winning streaks. Maplesville deserves recognition with a streak of twenty five wins during the regular season.

   *  Jackson and Hartselle share a streak of sixteen consecutive wins to lead all Alabama high school football teams.

   *  Central Hayneville continues to top our list with forty-one consecutive losses.

   *   Cold Springs has lost thirty-two straight region games.

   *   The T.R. Miller Tigers have scored in 318 consecutive games.

   *  Crenshaw Christian holds the state lead with 41 consecutive region wins. Deshler has a 26 game region winning streak followed closely by Bibb County and Briarwood at 25 games each.

Note: The new schools will not be included in team records because of the obvious reasons.

Points Scored by Both Teams in a Game
 * West Limestone and Clements set team records for points scored by both teams in a game when West Limestone won in a wild one 54-53.

Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

Collinsville completed the 1931 season with a record of 1-4-5. The five ties will forever be a state record since all games are now decided by overtime.
