Eight games into the 2013 season and the playoff teams are tuning up for the start of a Super Six run that will begin in only two short weeks. Here are a few tidbits from the eighth week of high school football action. * Hoover just keeps rolling along with little trouble after getting past Minor 41-9 on Friday night to continue their winning streak. The Bucs lead the AHSAA schools with a twenty-three game unbeaten streak. Edgewood Academy leads the AISA schools with a 40 game winning streak after a 52-14 victory over East Memorial Christian on Friday. * Butler once again leads the AHSAA with the longest losing streak in the state with a string of twenty-seven consecutive losses. They are followed closely by Red Level (24), Bullock County (23) and Woodville (23). * Bullock County has lost 31 consecutive region games to lead the state with that unwanted honor. * Piedmont ended their state leading 30 game regular season winning streak when the Bulldogs lost to Saks 40-15. Muscle Shoals assumes the top position with a string of twenty-three consecutive regular season wins following a 48-3 win over West Point. They are joined by Edgewood Academy with a streak of 31 games in the AISA. * Tanner continues to be impressive as the team seems to be getting better each week. They rolled to an impressive 42-6 win over Hatton this week and maintain their streak of 34 consecutive region wins. In the AISA, Monroe Academy defeated non-region foe Clarke Prep and continues a streak of 32 games. * Maplesville leads for most consecutive home wins in a row with a streak of 31 games after 55-0 win over Holy Spirit on the road. Dadeville (29), Hoover (29) and Tanner (29) are close behind after they all won games played on the road. * T.R. Miller Tigers continued their string of 337 games without being shutout following a 42-7 win over a ranked Straughn team. Milestones * Randy Ragsdale the head football coach at Trinity reached the 225 win mark with a 38-8 win over Tarrant on Friday night. His overall record as a head coach is currently 225-67. Points scored in a game * Geraldine set a team record for points scored in a game by defeating J.B. Pennington 77-43. * Jacksonville Christian set a team record for points scored in a game by defeating Coosa Christian 62-48. * Alma Bryant set a team record for points scored in a game by defeating Murphy 59-40. * Beauregard set a team record for points scored in a game by defeating Alabama Christian 70-21. Points allowed in a game * Alabama Christian set a team record for points allowed in a game by losing to Beauregard 21-70. * St. Clair County set a team record for points allowed in a game by losing to Oneonta 6-65. Margin of Victory game * Homewood set a team record for margin of victory by defeating Shelby County 63-0. Margin of Defeat game * Shelby County set a team record for margin of defeat in a game by losing to Homewood 0-63. * St. Clair County set a team record for margin of defeat in a game by losing to Oneonta 6-65. Points Scored by Both Teams in a Game * Coosa Christian set a team record for points scored by both teams in a game by losing to Jacksonville Christian 48-62. * Geraldine set a team record for points scored by both teams in a game by defeating J.B. Pennington 77-43. * J.B. Pennington set a team record for points scored by both teams in a game by losing to Geraldine 43-77. * Jacksonville Christian set a team record for points scored by both teams in a game by defeating Coosa Christian 62-48. * Murphy set a team record for points scored by both teams in a game by losing to Alma Bryant 40-59. * Northview set a team record for points scored by both teams in a game by losing to Foley 34-65. * Rogers set a team record for points scored by both teams in a game by losing to Haleyville 27-47. * Alma Bryant set a team record for points scored by both teams in a game by defeating Murphy 59-40. Teams with current school record winning streaks * Edgewood Academy has won a team record 40 consecutive games since 10/28/2010. * Madison Academy has won a team record 18 consecutive games since 10/5/2012. * Spanish Fort has won a team record 17 consecutive games since 10/11/2012. * Restoration Academy has won a team record 8 consecutive games since 8/30/2013. * Kingwood Christian has won a team record 6 consecutive games since 9/13/2013. * Decatur Heritage Christian has won a team record 2 consecutive games since 10/11/2013.
