Week 9

Nine weeks into the 2013 season and most of the playoff slots have been claimed. Here are a few tidbits from the ninth week of high school football action.

   *  Hoover throttled Tuscaloosa County on Thursday night by a score of 41-0. The Bucs lead the AHSAA schools with a twenty-four game unbeaten streak. Edgewood Academy leads the AISA schools with a 41 game winning streak after a 52-36 victory over Fort Dale Academy on Friday.

   *   Butler once again leads the AHSAA with the longest losing streak in the state with a string of twenty-eight consecutive losses. They are followed closely by Red Level (25), Bullock County (24) and Woodville (24).

   *   Bullock County has lost 32 consecutive region games to lead the state with that unwanted honor.

   *  Muscle Shoals took care of their state leading consecutive regular season winning streak. The sting of victories reaches twenty four games following s following a 47-7 win over a very good Cullman team. They are joined by Edgewood Academy with a streak of 32 games in the AISA.

   *  Tanner seems primed for another state championship bid. They rolled to an impressive 69-0 thrashing of Phil Campbell. They maintain their streak of 35 consecutive region wins. In the AISA, Monroe Academy defeated region foe Pike Liberal Arts and continues a streak of 34 games.

   *  Maplesville leads for most consecutive home wins with a streak of 31 games after 69-6 win over Keith on the road. Dadeville (30), Hoover (30) and Tanner (30) are close behind after they all won games played at home.

   *  T.R. Miller Tigers continued their string of 338 games without being shutout following a 28-0 win over arch-rival W.S. Neal.

* Florence set a team record for points scored in a game by defeating Sparkman 69-43.
* Hillcrest Evergreen set a team record for points scored in a game by defeating Monroe County 64-30.
* Woodville set a team record for points scored in a game by losing Coosa Christian 34-39.


Points allowed in a game

* Morgan Academy set a team record for points allowed in a game by losing to Clarke Prep 41-72.
* Sparkman set a team record for points allowed in a game by losing to Florence 43-69.
* Stanhope Elmore set a team record for points allowed in a game by losing to Wetumpka 41-53.
* Talladega set a team record for points allowed in a game by losing to Homewood 0-66.


Margin of Victory game

* Homewood set a team record for margin of victory by defeating Talladega 66-0.
* Tanner set a team record for margin of victory by defeating Phil Campbell 69-0.


Margin of Defeat game

* Sidney Lanier set a team record for margin of defeat in a game by losing to Carver Montgomery 0-63.
* Talladega set a team record for margin of defeat in a game by losing to Homewood 0-66.


Points Scored by Both Teams in a Game

* Florence set a team record for points scored by both teams in a game by defeating Sparkman 69-43.
* Hayden set a team record for points scored by both teams in a game by defeating Curry 54-31.
* Hillcrest Evergreen set a team record for points scored by both teams in a game by defeating Monroe County 64-30.
* Morgan Academy set a team record for points scored by both teams in a game by losing to Clarke Prep 41-72.
* Clarke Prep set a team record for points scored by both teams in a game by defeating Morgan Academy 72-41.
* Sparkman set a team record for points scored by both teams in a game by losing to Florence 43-69.
* Stanhope Elmore set a team record for points scored by both teams in a game by losing to Wetumpka 41-53.

* Edgewood Academy has won a team record 41 consecutive games since 10/28/2010.
* Madison Academy has won a team record 19 consecutive games since 10/5/2012.
* Spanish Fort has won a team record 18 consecutive games since 10/11/2012.
* Restoration Academy has won a team record 9 consecutive games since 8/30/2013.
* Hillcrest Evergreen has won a team record 6 consecutive games since 9/20/2013.
* Decatur Heritage Christian has won a team record 3 consecutive games since 10/11/2013.

* Butler has lost a team record 28 consecutive games since 9/1/2011.
* Red Level has lost a team record 25 consecutive games since 9/23/2011.
