Week 6

Most teams played out of region games this weekend as we are halfway through the regular season.  Here are a few tidbits from the sixth week of action.

  *   Clay-Chalkville had the week off and will try to continue their amazing streak. They have a string of games where they have scored at least 20 points that has reached 52 straight. Edgewood Academy has a good streak of their own. They have scored more than 20 points in 49 consecutive games following a 67-6 blowout of Lakeside. The state record is held by none other than Hoover with a string of 56 games.

  *   Spanish Fort also took the week off and will try to extend their AHSAA leading consecutive game winning streak of 29 straight victories next week.

  *   Edgewood Academy leads the AISA school with a 50 game winning streak.

  *   Butler suffered another loss. The Rebels have now lost 34 consecutive games. The streak is not close to the longest in state history behind R.C. Hatch at 68 losses in a row.

  *   Bullock County has also lost 35 consecutive region games in a row.

  *   Maplesville extended their regular season winning streak to 20 games with a 36-21 win over Tanner. They are just ahead of Spanish Fort (19) for the AHSAA lead. Edgewood Academy leads the AISA with a string of 38 straight victories.

  *   Tanner has a string of 38 consecutive games in which they have come out a winner in region play. Monroe Academy leads the AISA with a streak of 36 consecutive region wins.

  *   Maplesville has won 37 consecutive home games after their big win over Tanner on the road Friday night.

  *   Trinity, off to an 1-5 start with a tough schedule, will try to extend their streak of 32 straight winning seasons. The Wildcats last suffered through a losing season way back in 1981 when they finished with a 4-6 record. They last opened a season 0-5 in 1974, just their second season to field a football team.

  *   The T.R. Miller Tigers have an amazing streak of 348 games without being shutout after beating Escambia County 58-20.

  *   Coach Jeff Foshee at Stanhope Elmore remains at 99 wins after the Mustangs lost to Benjamin Russell 28-7 Friday.

  *   Red Level broke a 30 game losing streak by defeating J.F. Shields 53-0 on Friday.
