Week 1

The 2015 season began this week. Here are a few tidbits from week one's action.

   *  Clay-Chalkville and St. Paul's, coming off state championship seasons, extended their winning streaks to sixteen games which lead the AHSAA schools. Edgewood Academy leads the AISA school with a 58 game winning streak.

   *   Holly Pond and Holy Spirit have both lost twenty consecutive football games. The streaks are not close to the longest in state history behind R.C. Hatch at 68 losses in a row.

   *   Bullock County has also lost 39 consecutive region games in a row.

   *  The Maplesville Red Devils have won 25 straight regular season games with an impressive 54-7 victory over Ragland. They are well short of the 56 game mark set by Prattville a few years ago. Edgewood Academy has won 44 consecutive regular season games in the AISA.

   *   Tanner has a streak of 41 consecutive region wins with no signs of slowing down this year.

   *   Maplesville has also won 43 consecutive home games.

   *   Spanish Fort has won 19 consecutive road games with a win in Mississippi. Edgewood Academy has a string of 34 straight wins on the road.

   *   The Clay-Chalkville Cougars have scored at least twenty points in 63 straight games with an impressive 38-7 win over Blackman TN. The win extends their state record.

   *   T.R. Miller saw their state record 354 games scoring streak halted at the hands of the Andalusia Bulldogs on Friday night. The new leader is none other than the Hoover Bucs with a streak of 317 games dating to 9/27/1991. The last time Hoover was shutout came against Hewitt-Trussville by a score of 13-0 some 24 years ago.

   *   The Davidson Warriors have won 17 season openers in a row since opening the 1997 season with a loss to Daphne. They open the season next Friday against Mary Montgomery.
