Week 10

Playoff spots are set for most teams but a few are still playing to gain those last couple of post season slots. Here are a few tidbits from week ten action.

(Next week we will have a total of three Tidbits and Records. One as usual, another for the playoffs and lastly one to cover the regular season records.)

   *  The Fyffe Red Devils have a string of 204 games in which they have scored dating to 10/22/1999. They extended the streak with a 49-14 win over Collinsville. Brantley is in second at 184 games followed by Calera (165), Demopolis (162) and Prattville (157).

   *  Clay-Chalkville, retains their hold on of the longest winning streak in the AHSAA at 24 games after defeating Gardendale 52-27 to capture a region crown. Edgewood Academy leads the AISA school with a 67 game winning streak following an open date this week.

   *   Holly Pond has lost twenty-nine consecutive football games after getting throttled by Winfield 47-6. The streak is not close to the longest in state history behind R.C. Hatch at 68 losses in a row.

   *   Bullock County has also lost 46 consecutive region games in a row following a 36-12 loss to Catholic of Montgomery.

   *   Guntersville stretched their regular season winning streak to 27 games following a complete dismantling of Boaz 76-0. Edgewood Academy has won 52 consecutive regular season games in the AISA.

   *   Tanner has a streak of 47 consecutive region wins after beating Falkville 68-10 to capture their sixth consecutive region championship. Their last region loss came in 2009 against Lexington.

   *   Muscle Shoals has a string of 36 straight home field wins over the past five seasons after defeating Cullman 43-3 on the road.

   *   Spanish Fort has won 23 consecutive road games following their road win over Robertsdale 56-0. Edgewood Academy has a string of 38 straight wins on the road.

   *   The Clay-Chalkville Cougars have scored at least twenty points in 71 straight games. The Cougars also hold the state record for scoring at least 30 points in consecutive games with a string of 29. Both are AHSAA state records.

   *   Edgewood Academy has scored at least thirty points in 28 straight games in the AISA. Edgewood has also scored at least twenty points in 66 consecutive games.

   *   Anniston upset Alexandria 25-0. It is their first win over a ranked team since 2003.

   *   Cedar Bluff won the 500th game in school history according to our records. Their overall records stands at 500-301-21. It was pointed out that Cedar Bluff is the only team with 500 wins that have always been in Class 1A.
