Week 5


The 2017 season is in full swing. Here are a few tidbits from this week's action.

   *   Maplesville has the state's longest winning streak at 27 games following a 63-0 thumping of Elwood Christian.

   *   Barbour County lost to Ariton by a score of 45-20 and still has the state's longest losing streak at thirty-five games.

   *   Bullock County has lost 54 consecutive region games following a 23-12 loss to region foe Dale County.

   *   Fyffe extended their 22 game regular season winning streak with another runaway victory over Ider by a score of 38-0.

   *   The state's longest region winning streak also belongs to Maplesville who has a string of 49 straight region victories.

   *   Piedmont has the state's longest home winning streak at twenty-three games. The Bulldogs won their 500th game in school history with a 48-13 victory over Pleasant Valley. Monroe Academy (30) lead the AISA schools.

   *    Maplesville has also won 24 consecutive road games following their impressive victory on the road this past Friday night.

   *   Maplesville has scored twenty or more points in 42 consecutive games.

   *   Fyffe hopes to avoid the dreaded shutout and extend their streak of consecutive games scoring. They are currently sitting on a string of 225 games without being shutout.

   *   Millry upset #7 Linden on Friday night. It was the school's first win over a ranked team since they defeated #5 Southern Choctaw in 2003.

   *   Hoover has been ranked by the ASWA for an amazing 190 consecutive polls dating back to the 2000 season. The Bucs are the #2 team in Class 7A.

   *   The Piedmont Bulldogs won the 500th game in the school's history on Friday. Their overall record stands at 500-400-30. Congratulations to the coaches and team.
